About Rosemary & Time
About the Venue
At Rosemary & Time, we believe crafting and art are essential human endeavors. Humans, by nature, like to make our mark and actively mould that around us. We are creative and producing something of our own, rewarding, connecting community, family and friends. Nowdays, crafting is not often about survival essentials of clothing and baskets. It is making something special for your special people, expressing a feeling or communicating a connection, valuing what you have, being more sustainable, moving against fast fashion and waste, making it last longer, valuing yourself and making it fit you, and expressing yourself, making it unique.
“You can find all the info you need to craft on YouTube.” you might say, but Rosemary & Time is more than YouTube on a screen. At Rosemary & Time, ask questions, make suggestions, feel proud, learn new things, share, try it out and laugh out loud.
About Rosemary
Rosemary is a mostly self taught sewist and crafter. After a childhood surrounded by sewing and crafting, she naturally tried it out herself, sewing her own dance costumes and trying out all sorts knitting and craft projects from the Women’s Weekly pullouts.
Rosemary has made crafting and sewing a constant life endeavor outside her regular work, first as an Occupational Therapist and then English as a Second Language Teacher in Japan and Australia. She has taught all ages and has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment as well as a current Working with Children Check (Blue card). Most recently, she has been teaching English to new Australians at TAFE, which resulted in the opportunity to sew with a group of amazing women.
Rosemary has a passion for cats and chickens, cooking birthday cakes and trying new sewing and crafting projects. Recent interests have been melt and pour moulded soaps, jumping on the amigurumi train and adjusting commercial dress patterns to her maturer and average 55+ shape.
You can meet Rosemary in the shop, children’s workshops and variety of craft and sewing sessions and workshops.

Contact Us

Hi, I’m Rosemary of Rosemary & Time.
I identify as a sewer, crafter and a teacher.
I’m not originally named from the herb (though that is great with lamb and potatoes and in a rosemary scrub soap and as a name for a new Social Maker Space). My name was originally combined from those of the new grandmothers, the ‘Rose’ side and the ‘Mary’ side, to keep family harmony.
I have loved to craft and sew since childhood. I don’t remember a household where someone didn’t sit and make when they were relaxing while chatting with visitors, or watching TV or were sewing and sequinning frantically to finish a dance costume minutes before leaving perhaps a little late for a dance concert dress rehearsal. Crafting has always been there.
Teaching has also been around a mighty long while. I started teaching children and adults English as a second language in the early 90s and gained a Masters of Applied Linguistics (TESOL – Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). More recently I have been teaching adult migrants English with TAFE. In the last couple of years have had the great pleasure of working on a sewing class run at a local Community Hub. It has been great fun creating with these amazing women. I have a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and a current Working with Children Check (Blue card).
My grandmothers were a knitter and a crochet /oil painter. I was in awe of their crafty magic and the way my mother could knit, seemingly by waving only 1 finger. A silent ‘Wingardieum Knitty-osa’ and the knitting would grow. This fascination lead me to craft books and my first knitting project, which was a not a scarf but a predecessor of the amigurumi trend, a knitted stuffed Babapapa character, the pink dad.
The ‘Mary’ side grandmother introduced me to crochet and granny squares and let me use her Singer treadle machine. A group of women I have worked with recently from Africa, talk of hand wound sewing machines (no electricity) that they use in their home country to make clothing for their family.
Sewing and crafting, knit two, purl one, has helped me regulate my rhythm when it has been out. It has measured time, three more rows before bed. And it has given me something special to gift to people who are special to me (a red and white mermaid blanket for snugging up after a long day in the office). I have become quite addicted to the ooos and ahhhs when finishing a project. Loani Prior’s ‘Pedro de la Pantaloon’ (we called him Rodger) of her “really wild tea cosies” has been one of the biggest Oooo and Ahhh, I remember.
I have thoroughly enjoyed crafting over the years, particularly with and for family and friends. I hope to share that joy through Rosemary & Time. We can mend and make and enjoy each other’s crafty company.

Come and make use of the space at Rosemary & Time!
There are a few different ways you might like to use our Workshop or Cafe areas. There are a few options below but if you think of any others please get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.
Host a Workshop With Us
If you have a skill or project you’d like to share, you can host a workshop or a series of classes at Rosemary & Time.
We will add your class to the R&T calendar, make it available on our booking system and help to promote your class on our socials.
Payment is usually on a ‘door deal’ basis; i.e. we will negotiate with you a nominal hire fee for the space and a percentage of the takings to cover transaction fees, which is deducted from the bookings, and the remainder is passed on to you.
Run Your Own Workshop
If you have your own creative business and just need our space, you can hire the sewing room, the craft space or the cafe area to run your own workshop or series of classes.
You can take bookings directly, under your own business branding in whichever way you like.
In this case we will negotiate a hire fee for the space, depending on which space/s you require, whether you will make use of our equipment (e.g. sewing machines) and how regularly you intend to hire. Payment is usually required upfront or on the day of your hire.
Event Hire
Need a space for an event? We have three!
No matter what you need it for, our space is available for hire any time we don’t have classes scheduled, which includes most evenings.
Run a full-day workshop, hold a sewing-bee in our sewing room, run a meditation session, host a meeting in our cafe space, plan an exclusive Paint-and-Sip birthday party – whatever you like!
Event hire is generally for exclusive use of the venue. Your hire fee is negotiated depending on the timing and resources required for your event.
